You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. Make Ivinson street 24 hour parking only to provide more parking options

Most of the cars parked on Ivinson Street are students living in the dorms who park their car at the beginning of the semester and never move it. This means that those of us who have to commute to campus every day can never find parking. Signs should be put up reminding people not to hog parking spots.

  3. Bike Racks for UW Buses

Get front loading bike racks for buses. I attended CSU Fort Collins for a semester and witnessed how amazingly helpful front attachment bike racks on their public buses were. Laramie is a big bike friendly town and by installing such a feature, mobility can increase in all conditions (especially in harsh weather) including those which were unanticipated. Even if it was just a few buses and since we don't a large public transportation system anyway, this would involve only UW campus buses.

  4. Install a redbox on campus.

Students love movies and redbox has a wider selection of new movies in comparison to the library. Having a redbox on campus would make movie renting more accessible for students. Also, Hastings has recently closed so there is a greater need for another movie rental option.

ASUW has been looking into this topic for the last few weeks and has passed Senate Resolution 2520, ASUW Support of Alcohol Sales at War Memorial Stadium and the Arena Auditorium. This resolution shows ASUW’s support for the implementation of beer and wine sales at football and basketball games. The resolution also asks the UW Athletics Department to consider the safety and well-being of students and spectators in the implementation, and finally encourages the UW Board of Trustees to allow this change. ASUW President Rotellini will bring the recommendation of the ASUW Student Senate to the UW Board of Trustees for their consideration, but the final decision will still ultimately be in the hands of the UW Board of Trustees. If anyone has any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at asuwexc3@uwyo.edu, or feel free to visit the ASUW Office in Union 020. I will also…

  6. Include laundry in the residents halls student fees

It would be easier if laundry was included in the fees of students paying to live in the residents hall. Each person could pay for laundry like a meal plan if they go over they could pay each time. I think this would promote more hygienic practice in the residents hall, as well, would help the university keep people paying to use campus laundry.

  7. Adjust smoking allowances on campus

Around the classroom building and the residence halls the butt collectors are way too close to the doors. This proximity to necessary exits and entrances creates an environment where people who are allergic to smoke, or who have asthmatic or other lung-related reactions to it cannot safely enter or exit buildings to get around campus. Ideally, smoking should be banned on campus. However, it is crucial that ASUW take action to at the very least make smoking an improper action within 7 yards of building entrances, exits, and clean air intake vents. This could be ensured by posting signs and…

  8. Block microsoft edge on campus computers

Block or provide an option to block microsoft edge on campus computers especially for it being an automated choice for pdf files. In most cases it only allows you to print through edge which limits the customization provided by the pdf

  9. Build bike lockers at the day parking lots

By building bike lockers near campus for off-campus students to house a bike safely, students could drive to a day parking lot and have a bike to commute around campus efficiently.

  10. Traffic Lines on Sidewalk

It would make the flow going to classes much smoother if there was a way to have slower people stay on one side of the sidewalks, and not take up the entire path, especially those that mosey around slowly

  11. Remove the plus minus scale overhaul from the grading system.

The plus minus scale has no A+ on its scale which makes it an unbalanced scale. It unfairly punishes A- students, and its only purpose is to differentiate students and it punishes good students.

The ASUW Academics, Technology, and Sustainability Committee has been hard at work completing in depth research on this issue. Senator Josh Materi from the College of Arts & Science, the Chair of this Committee, has put together a Status Report which details this research. Please reference the Status Report from Senator Materi for the Committee’s recommendations regarding how to overhaul and/or improve the current plus/minus grading system here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxvHE7ovI2jQWVkxbTF0cG1SRWc/view?usp=sharing.
The ASUW Student Government will continue to look at how to best address this issue moving forward. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the ASUW Student Government at asuwgov@uwyo.edu. We will periodically update this issue with any progress made.

  12. Improve parking on campus

Build permit parking lots/garages for those that commute in; we would gladly pay $100+ per semester to avoid the hassle of finding a spot on campus. Limit how long a car can park on Ivinson, 9th, and Willet. Parking is the single most frustrating thing as a student.

The ASUW Student Outreach and Policy Committee has been hard at work completing more in depth research on this issue. Senator Kadi Cooley from the College of Arts & Science, the Chair of this Committee, has put together a Status Report which details this research. Please reference the Status Report from Senator Cooley for details regarding some recommendations of the Committee to improve parking on the University of Wyoming campus here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxvHE7ovI2jQTTJTQ09uT2ZYVEk/view?usp=sharing. 13. Smoke Free Campus

There are now 1,477 smoke free campuses in the United States, with 975 of those being tobacco free (http://www.no-smoke.org/pdf/smokefreecollegesuniversities.pdf). It would be great to see this policy implement on our campus, including e-cigs.

ASUW Director of Governmental Affairs Chris Ryan has been hard at work completing initial research on this issue. He has put together a Status Report which details his endeavors so far to issue an official survey through the University of Wyoming Institutional Review Board for Protection of Human Subjects and can be referenced here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxvHE7ovI2jQUWozUjBKZVM4WmM/view?usp=sharing. Once a survey receives final approval by the UW IRB for Protection of Human Subjects, the ASUW Student Government will monitor and gather data from the survey. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the ASUW Student Government at asuwgov@uwyo.edu. We will periodically update this issue with any progress made.

  14. Allow Student Health Services to write doctors notes for illness.

Many professors require a doctors note for excused absences. However, Student Health Services has a policy against it. If you only have the student medical insurance, you would have to pay out of pocket to see a health professional to get a note. This is a burden on students. Correct the system, either allow Student Health Services to write excuses, or prohibit professors from requiring them.

  15. Improve outdoor lighting throughout campus.

The parking lot lighting outside of the union as well as the lighting throughout prexys is unacceptable and DANGEROUS. I hate seeing people struggle to find their keys in the dark parking lot, or bikers nearly running over walkers simply due to poor lighting. This campus is not safe without proper lighting and it's a pretty simple fix.

  16. Improve snow and ice removal

Despite the plowing in parking lots and brushing the snow off of sidewalks, the left behind snow and ice is very dangerous every winter. I lose track of how many times I have seen people fall every winter. There are places on sidewalks during the winter where there is no way to avoid the ice. Parking Lots also need to be more clear of ice as people need to be able to get to their vehicles safely. The safety tips for walking on ice and the number to call for problem spots is not enough. There needs to be more…
